The neurodiversity movement, grounded in social justice, advocates for viewing autism as a different, not deficient, way of experiencing the world.

Farmer's parents supported him in a neurodiversity-affirming environmen...

Solution: "Wings for All" program provides a safe, practice travel experience.
The annual Wings for All program at Syracuse Hancock International Airport offers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities an opportunity to experience air travel in a stress-free environment. Run in collaboration with SSRA, Arc of Onondaga, and United Airlines, the program allows participants and their families to navigate the complete airport experience—checking in, passing through security, boarding, and enjoying snack service on a mock flight. By simulating the travel day without the pressures of an actual trip, Wings for All helps families assess their readiness for future flights and gives travelers with disabilities a chance to acclimate to the busy airport environment.

In this year's event, 22 participants and their familie...
